Reporting directly to the President and the CEO, the COO will be a strategic thinker with proven leadership experience, able to provide ultimate oversight and guidance to a large and complex operational team including the following departmental areas: Sales, Operations, Dispatch, HR, Customer Service, Claims, Accounting and Marketing.
The COO is required to carry out the management of day-to-day operations at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in accordance with the direction and policies established by the CEO and Board. The COO provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency
Key fields of responsibility include:
Operations policy and planning:
Collaborate with the President and the CEO to define the organization’s vision and determine strategies for achieving this vision
Creating, communicating and implementing Special Logisti’s vision, mission and overall direction of the organization
Leading the development and implementation of the overall strategic plan that guides the direction of our business
Leading the measurement and effectiveness of all operational processes internal and external.
Providing timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
Assure quality control through development and implementation of systems and procedures and managing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
At the direction of the President and the CEO, provide general oversight of all Special Logistics’s activities and management of day to day operations
Assure a high functioning and efficient corporation
Leading, guiding, directing and evaluating the work of departmental management team; including vice presidents, managers, and sales team
Promote a culture that reflects **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s values; encourage good performance and reward productivity
Oversee the fiscal activities of the company including budgeting, reporting and audit
Manage the company’s resources within budget guidelines and according to current laws and regulations
Promote programs that are produced in a cost-effective manner while always maintaining a high level of quality
Ensure appropriate financing to support the short- and long-term goals of the company
Serve as spokesperson and representative of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., assuring proper representation of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. to the community
Act as liaison between **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and the community, building relationships with peer organizations where appropriate
Actively advocate for the company, its mission and services and ensure it is consistently presented in a strong, positive image
This is a demanding and potentially high-stress position that will require the incumbent to handle detailed concepts and problems, balance multiple tasks and make rapid decisions.
The COO should possess the following competencies and qualifications:
Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 10 years experience in a senior management position
Commitment to results
Strong leadership and motivational skills
Knowledge in the following areas; operations, finance, personnel, planning, human services and evaluation
Previous operations management experience in the freight, logistics or transportation industry
This is a full time position to be based predominantly out of our Texas headquarters in Houston but may require regular travel to our satellite facilities nationwide.
