The average life expectancy of the average American person is now well into their eighties. That is causing controversy on whether life time pensions should be paid from age fifty-five or sixty years old. The current retirement age is 55 years old, and if you retire at 55, you will receive your pension for the rest of your life. Police and fire fighters are given the opportunity to retire at age 50, due to the bodily functions of the job description. In the current economical struggle, states are having trouble paying pensions, and changes are expected to happen. Americans are now working later in life than normally expected ten years ago.
